Taggiasche olives are the characteristic cultivar from the glamorous Ligurian coast, home to our own Bestagno grove. They are small and plump with a firm bite and a mellow fruity flavour, making them perfect for both aperitivo and cooking. These are stored in brine, you can enjoy them as is or soak a little in fresh water to dull the saltiness.
The Taggiasche olives take their name from their place of origin, the coastal town of Taggia in Liguria. They have been grown for centuries for both their delicate extra virgin olive oil and as table olives. Interesting fact, the Taggiasca olive tree is self-pollinating.
These olives are delicious for aperitivo as they are small and plump with a firm bite, but are also wonderful to cook with. Their rich but mellow flavour makes them wonderful to cook with. The pair well with seafood dishes (classic on the Ligurian coast), as well as fresh salads and mild cheeses.
